Founder & CEO, Texas Matters
Marnie Rulfs is the Founder and CEO of Texas Matters, a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to helping Texans understand the issues that matter most, know the candidates and where they stand, and participate with confidence throughout the March-to-March civic cycle.
Marnie brings extensive experience in education, public policy, advocacy, and community engagement. She began her career with Teach For America and later worked with the Texas House Education Committee. Her career has taken her from elementary, high school, and college classrooms to senior leadership roles, including Director of Early Learning at the Commit Partnership and Executive Director of Early Learning at the Texas Education Agency. Throughout her career, she has focused on translating complex policy into meaningful action and building coalitions that strengthen communities.
A longtime Dallas civic leader, Marnie has served on numerous nonprofit and education boards, including Teach For America, Educational First Steps, Head Start of Greater Dallas, the Booker T. Washington Advisory Board, Preston Hollow Foundation, Dallas ISD Bond Commission Executive Board, and Hillcrest High School Community Foundation. She is also a member of the Dallas Assembly and Charter 100 at Communities Foundation of Texas.
Outside of her work, Marnie enjoys travel, cooking, the outdoors, and time with friends and family. Her greatest joy is her family: identical twin sons who are freshmen at the University of Texas at Austin, a daughter who is a junior at Central Saint Martins in London, and a young professional stepdaughter in Dallas.
