Marnie Lynn Rulfs

Marnie is currently the founder and CEO of Texas Matters. Texas Matters is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to engaging Texans on the issues that matter most, amplifying the power of the March to March two-year political cycle and mobilizing mainstream voters across Texas.

Marnie has extensive work experience in both education and advocacy work. Early in her career, she worked for Teach for America before joining the Texas House Education Committee. She has taught in elementary, high school and college classrooms, as well as acted as Director of Early Learning for the Commit Partnership and Executive Director of Early Learning for the Texas Education Agency. She is an expert in community level engagement, policy development and advocacy. She has also held numerous leadership positions in the Dallas community. Over the years, she has served on the boards of Teach for America, Educational First Steps, Head Start of Greater Dallas, the Booker T. Washington Advisory Board, The Preston Hollow Foundation, Dallas ISD Bond Commission Executive Board and The Hillcrest High School Community Foundation. She is honored to have been selected to be in the Dallas Assembly and The Charter 100 with the Communities Foundation of Texas.

Marnie’s enjoys strong friendships, travel, cooking and anything outdoors. Her greatest joy is her family.  She has identical twins who are freshmen at the University of Texas at Austin an, a junior in college at the Central Saint Martins School of Design in London and a young professional stepdaughter in Dallas.
